An authentic portrait of the fishing community of Angeiras - from routines that begin before sunrise to the deep connection between tradition, hard work, and identity.

More than just a place, Angeiras is a way of life.

In this documentary, we give a voice to the fishermen who, day after day, face the sea with resilience and respect for a tradition that spans generations. Every gesture, every net cast, carries stories of sacrifice, pride, and belonging.

This is an unfiltered, authentic portrait of a community that lives to the rhythm of the tides.

WHY WE TELL THIS STORY

We believe that a product only makes sense when it’s connected to the people who use it.

This documentary stems from a desire to better understand the real-world context in which many of our products come to life. It’s also a way to celebrate local communities, preserve stories, and shine a light on professions that remain essential - even when they’re far from the spotlight.

There is something that is passed down long before any conscious choice is made: a knowledge of the sea, respect for its rhythm, an understanding of risk, and the quiet discipline of those who depend on something beyond their control. Growing up here means growing up with the sound of the waves as a backdrop and the certainty that the day begins while it is still night.

Being a fisherman in Angeiras doesn’t begin on the first day of work. It begins in childhood - in the gestures observed, the stories heard, the hands that learn early on the weight of the nets and the value of effort. It is an informal yet demanding apprenticeship, carried out side by side with parents, uncles, and grandparents. A legacy that isn’t imposed, but absorbed.

Over the generations, much has changed. Boats have evolved, equipment has become more sophisticated, and conditions are different today. But the essence remains unchanged: the dependence on the sea, the uncertainty of every outing, and the constant need to adapt.
This short film captures precisely that - the balance between tradition and contemporary reality. On the one hand, there is a deep respect for the ways of the past; on the other, there is an awareness that this is an increasingly challenging profession, under pressure from economic, environmental, and social factors.

Yet what stands out is resilience.

There is a dignity all its own in this community. A quiet pride, expressed not in words but in actions repeated daily. Going out to sea is not just work, it is also carrying on a way of life that defines entire families.

And it is precisely this connection between the past and the present, between experience and adaptation, that makes Angeiras unique.
